Compare Good Boy Pawsley Chewy Twists (duck) and Chewy Dumbbells (chicken) on protein, allergens, shape, and value to pick the right long-lasting chew for your dog.
Quick answer
Choose Good Boy Pawsley Chewy Twists (duck) if your dog needs a gluten-, wheat-, and cereal-free recipe or you want a slightly larger pack; choose Chewy Dumbbells (chicken) if wheat-free is enough and you prefer the lower upfront price.
Protein and allergen trade-offs
Both treats use 100% natural human-grade breast meat wrapped around a chewy rawhide centre, but the recipes differ in grain handling. The duck twists are gluten-, wheat-, and cereal-free, while the chicken dumbbells are wheat-free only. That distinction matters if your dog reacts to gluten or other cereals, not just wheat.
Duck is often a useful alternative protein for dogs that have eaten a lot of chicken, but neither product is marketed as a limited-ingredient or hypoallergenic diet. If your dog has a diagnosed allergy, confirm with your vet before switching proteins.
Shape, chewing, and supervision
Twists and dumbbells both have a rawhide centre, so they are long-lasting chews rather than quick training treats. The twisted shape may encourage more prolonged chewing for some dogs, while the dumbbell shape can be easier to hold between paws. Neither product supplies a chew-size rating, so match the treat to your dog’s mouth size and always supervise.
Rawhide chews should be given as a reward or occupied treat, not as a meal replacement. Remove any small remaining piece that could be swallowed whole.
Pack size and value
The duck twists come in a 320g pack, and the chicken dumbbells come in a 350g pack. At the catalog prices shown, the dumbbells cost less per pack, but the price per gram depends on current pricing. Check the live price and pack weight before deciding which offers better value for your dog’s routine.
Key trade-offs at a glance
- Grain-free vs wheat-free: Duck twists are gluten-, wheat-, and cereal-free; chicken dumbbells are wheat-free only. Pick twists if your dog reacts to gluten or other cereals; pick dumbbells if wheat is the only concern.
- Protein choice: Duck offers an alternative protein for dogs that have eaten a lot of chicken, while chicken is a familiar, widely accepted flavour. Neither is a limited-ingredient diet, so confirm allergies with your vet.
- Shape and chewing style: Twists may suit dogs that chew longer, while dumbbells can be easier to hold. Both have a rawhide centre, so supervise and remove small pieces.
- Pack size and price: Duck twists come in 320g; chicken dumbbells come in 350g. Compare the live price per gram rather than pack price alone.
